    1) If you have legally resided in Turkey for at least 5 years without interruption, you can apply for citizenship if you are meeting the other requirements as well.

    2) Citizenship by Investment - You can obtain Turkish citizenship by making an investment.

    3) Citizenship by Marriage, if you are married to a Turkish citizen for at least 3 years, you can apply for citizenship.

    4) Turkish government may grant citizenship to individuals with:

Significant contributions in science, technology, sports, or culture,

Refugee status or those who have been granted asylum,

Special consideration due to national interest.

  • Yes, it is possible to have divorce decisions made by foreign courts or at consulates recorded in the population registry of the Republic of Türkiye. Contrary to common belief, in some countries, divorce can also take place at consulates.
The procedure for registering divorces that occur abroad into the population registry in Türkiye depends on the nationalities of the parties involved. In this case, it may be necessary to file Recognition and Enforcement lawsuits. However, according to the Population Services Law, it is possible for the divorce decision to be registered in the population registry by the civil registration offices. The procedures vary depending on the specifics of each case (such as the nationality of the parties, the country where the divorce decision was made, the date the divorce decision was issued, etc.).

  • Yes, if a recognition certificate is issued by the Higher Education Council (YÖK), diplomas obtained from abroad are valid in Türkiye. This process is carried out through a physical application to YÖK with the necessary documents carefully gathered. In other words, you will need to go to Ankara to obtain a recognition certificate, but you can also carry out this process through an attorney whom you have given power of attorney. Additionally, when applying for recognition, it is important to correctly identify the equivalent of the foreign degree in Türkiye. Otherwise, the application will be rejected by YÖK.
